Since 1993, I have been happily married to my wife Wendy and we are proud parents to our two children, Jessica and Reed. My career in the horticulture industry began at an early age, working alongside my father at Southwest Landscape Nursery Company. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Texas A&M University in 1989, I returned to Southwest to continue building on my family’s legacy.
Throughout the 1990s, I deepened my knowledge by achieving the Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional designation, serving on the TNLA Region IV board and being honored with the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association (TNLA) Young Leader Award. In 1999, I acquired Southwest Landscape Nursery, transitioning it into Southwest Wholesale Nursery, a premier landscape distribution company. Since taking over, the company has grown to 125 employees and works with customers, growers, and vendors in 15 states.
My commitment to the industry is reflected in my ongoing leadership roles within TNLA, including currently serving on the state board as State Director for TNLA Region IV. I have also served on many TNLA committees throughout my career and currently serve as Chairman of TNLA PAC. In 2024, I dove further into the business of horticulture completing the Executive Academy of Growth & Leadership (EAGL), earning a Master Certificate in Applied Horticultural Business Management from Texas A&M University. Most recently I have achieved my ISA Certified Arborist. Additionally, I am honored to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Horticulture Research Institute.
